We should probably talk about when we say workplace rules. What is what does that mean? What does it encompass. Say this.

Helena Almeida

So when I think about the workplace- the rules for using AI in the workplace, right? It's a whole range of things. We start with sort of what tools do we want our workers to use in the workplace? What information, what company information can they put in the tools? What tasks or or workflows can they use the tools for, and what expectations does the employer have over kind of what the worker's role is and using AI?

So there's a whole range of different things that come with using AI at work, and there's a lot of different ways that we can make sure that we're getting all the productivity gains that we expect to get, but also being responsible and how we're using AI in the workplace.

Kasara Weinrich

Yeah. No, I think that's that all sounds spot on.

And I do think we're approaching this time where accountability is a part of the conversation as well. And and maybe even, you know, and this is near and dear to me, but just the education to and making sure that there is some guidance or maybe, you know, a baseline or a very good understanding of what this technology is and how it works so that they as, as an employee, I can understand what I'm using, why I'm using it, and then how to best apply it to my work.

Helena Almeida

Absolutely. I mean, one of the things about being a lawyer in, in this sort of period of transformation, when we're talking about rules,

Kasara Weinrich

it sounds super easy, right?

Helena Almeida

Nothing changes. It's the same every day. But, you know, I actually look at AI rules as a positive in the workplace. I was driving to work this morning, and I was thinking about all the traffic rules that we all follow when we're getting from point A to point B, and none of that is designed to make people stop driving, right?

We're all still driving. We're driving to work. But it's to make sure that there's we eliminate some uncertainty so we know kind of what is expected of us, how to do it safely, and how to get from point A to point B.

And I think a lot of the employers who are thinking about workplace rules are really using it as an opportunity to take away some of the uncertainty make sure that people are adopting the tools and using them safely.
