Every second counts

Each year, 10,000 cardiac emergencies happen at workplaces. The good news is anyone can train to become CPR certified and transform from a bystander to a lifesaver.

ADP is supporting the American Heart Association by providing CPR education in the ADP Mobile Solutions app with the potential to reach the app’s 14 million active monthly users. See how businesses can become a part of a growing movement to build a Nation of Lifesavers and create safer, more prepared workplaces where every second counts.

I teach CPR to doctors, nurses, paramedics, EMTs, lifeguards.

This is swimming season. Knowing CPR this time of year is really, really important.

We're looking for this rhythm.

I've gone into homes and workplaces, both in a volunteer capacity and for my job. It's heartbreaking when you arrive and somebody has had cardiac arrest. And the people that love them, coworkers or family members are just standing there because they don't know what to do.

What we've learned today is about the importance of bystander CPR. So we know this first responders coming, but there's going to be a gap between that and the time that it takes for them to get there. And what we learned today is that the bystander CPR really increases the chances that someone's going to survive.

Being a lifesaver means that I can jump in and assist when I see that anyone is in need. My uncle actually passed a few weeks ago from a heart attack, knowing that someone may have been there that could have helped if they knew how to perform CPR and they were CPR certified. Definitely encourages me to step in.

Getting this training means that not only am I trained to do the right thing and to save someone, but it also means that someone else can learn from what I do, and they'll save a life and continue that cycle of getting more people involved.

The most impactful thing I learned from the training was every second counts.

I think people should absolutely join the nation of lifesavers. It's not a lot of training, and the difference that you'll make in somebody's life, somebody that you love, a friend, a coworker, will be just monumental.
