We all know that the regulatory landscape is evolving constantly, things are changing quickly, and we need to try to stay ahead of those changes as much as we can.
As you think about the changing laws. Take, for example, paid sick leave laws. Those have been around now for a while, 15 plus years, but they continue to change, whether it's at the municipal level, whether it's at the state level, whether it's just a change to a current law, and the advantage of setting a standard that meets sort of that higher bar allows an employer to not have to change as often.
Number one. Sort of future proofing what you're doing when you set your your policies and your benefits. But the second thing is that looking at it from an employer of choice perspective, you can think about how am I going to attract the talent? What difference am I going to make for why they want to come to me as an employer, and also from a retention perspective, being able to hold on to those employees once you have them.
So really thinking and trying to get ahead of the scale, looking across the landscape, not just focusing on your 1 or 2 jurisdictions where you're doing business, but really looking across the landscape and determining what's the best practice here, and working with a trusted advisor who can help you understand what that landscape looks like, and also what those best practices might be, is something that's going to be key to you being that employer of choice.
